Large Groups Party Amidst COVID-19, while Social Distancing T Shirt Campaign is Taking Off
Tuesday, May 19th, 2020 - Cincinnati, Ohio: Despite Cincinnati making national news for people partying in large groups and potentially spreading COVID-19, a Social Distancing T-Shirt trend is blowing up in the Midwest to fight the transmission of the virus.
With various bars & restaurants reopening, now it's more important than ever, to practice safe social distancing. However, others are not taking it so seriously. Upon reopening Cincinnati bars and restaurants over this past weekend, with strict guidelines, some places were overflowing with patrons-- who were not social distancing.
For example, some viral pictures were taken of people who were partying it up, standing shoulder to shoulder, at locations such as The Banks in Downtown Cincinnati, the Rosedale Bar, and Blind Pig Bar in Cincinnati Over The Rhine. .Photo Sources:Pic 1: Derek Bauman: Snapchat Pic 2: Richard Metzger: Twitter
Many people have spoken out on Social Media in complete shock at the lack of responsibility.
Opinions on social-distancing very widely, and not everyone understands the severity of the situation. While some people are protesting to reopen more businesses, others are flocking to purchase social distancing T-shirts from the Covid Response Store to protect their families from the virus. Angela Reuss, mother of 3, and graphic designer, has been busy growing the social-distancing movement to keep people safe and flatten the curve with her witty social-distancing T-shirt line.
These large print shirts have phrases such as: “Save Your Friends - Social Distance” and “Social Distancing- all the cool kids are doing it”.
Not only are these social distancing T-shirts helping to combat this virus, but 100% of the profit from the sales of these T-shirts are going to the COVID-19 Response Fund.
Angela Reuss Stated: “The more that people wear these shirts, the more others will understand that people are actually social-distancing, and it’s not that big of a deal to do so. Let’s have fun, but continue to take precautions while doing it. We can mentally and emotionally stand together, while physically standing apart at the same time. The message here is to social distance, not emotional distance. ”
Angela also created T-shirts to honor our first responders and essential workers such as Doctors, Nurses, Truckers, Grocery Workers, Police & Fire, as well as other essential workers.
“While this pandemic swept our nation, and other places around the world, I just felt like there was more I should do than just stay home. Here, I'm staying safely at home, away from all the madness, while there are people, such as first responders, out there on the front lines, battling this war. This is what inspired me to make shirts to acknowledge and support essential workers and social distancing, while simultaneously raising money for the COVID-19 Response Fund.”, Ms. Reuss said.
The purpose of the Covid-19 Response Fund is to:
- Track and understand the spread of the virus
- Ensure patients get the care they need and frontline workers get essential supplies and information
- Accelerate research and development of a vaccine and treatments for all who need them
T-shirts are available to the public.
